Author Biography
The late BILL "The Mooseman" SILLIKER JR. photographed many of the wild animals and places of North America, with the results published in Audubon, Backpacker, Field & Stream, National Geographic Traveler, National Wildlife, Outdoor Photographer, Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, and many other magazines. His work appeared in several books, including Saving Maine, Moose-cellania, and Wild Maine.

Bill was an instructor of wildlife and nature photography for L.L. Bean, and he coproduced a series of nature videos, including Maine's Magnificent Moose, Loons of the Northern Forest, Sea Birds of the Maine Coast, and The Story of Baxter State Park.

"Uses for Mooses, And Other (Silly) Observations, while presenting a less serious look at the species than my other works on moose, will still educate the reader a bit about moose behavior. Why? First of all, the moose all posed quite naturally for each of these photographs. I selected them from the tens of thousands of images in my files showing moose in mostly more traditional poses. And so, however odd some of these photographs might make moose appear, all are of normal, healthy moose just doing their thing. The idea behind this book, though, is more to amuse than to educate."
